SMP Funding Update Response

Hello SMP community! This video speaks to our recent ArtsNL funding reduction, its rationale, impact, our next steps, and how you can help. Below is a quick and concise bullet point-form summary of what is in the video which speaks to these points in greater detail:

• ArtsNL's new funding structure, the Professional Operating Program, has placed us in the Keystone Tier with a current cap of approximately $54,000 annually, a reduction of $16,000 from our previous annual allowance. 

• A reduction of $16,000 annually will have impacts at SMP, the most immediate being our inability to fill the now vacant Communications and Administrative Coordinator (previously held by Drew Pardy). 

• We now have one permanent staff position, the Executive Director role, and for the foreseeable future, we will only be able to add additional support staff through short-term contracts via project grants and job subsidies. 

• How you can help!!

  • Volunteer!! We are working on a volunteer campaign and will have specific roles for volunteers. Volunteers can exchange time for studio rental or workshop discounts. Get in touch with us at studio@stmichaelsprintshop.com for more info!
