Hello SMP community! This video speaks to our recent ArtsNL funding reduction, its rationale, impact, our next steps, and how you can help. Below is a quick and concise bullet point-form summary of what is in the video which speaks to these points in greater detail:
ArtsNL's new funding structure, the Professional Operating Program, has placed us in the Keystone Tier with a current cap of approximately $54,000 annually, a reduction of $16,000 from our previous annual allowance.
A reduction of $16,000 annually will have impacts at SMP, the most immediate being our inability to fill the now vacant Communications and Administrative Coordinator (previously held by Drew Pardy).
We now have one permanent staff position, the Executive Director role, and for the foreseeable future, we will only be able to add additional support staff through short-term contracts via project grants and job subsidies.
