More on Levana:

Levana Katz is an interdisciplinary artist born in Tkaronto (Toronto) and based in Tiohtià:ke / Mooniyang (Montréal). Working in drawing, printmaking and textiles, her practice investigates how Jewish cultural traditions impact her relationship to her surroundings. Her work explores how these memories and family histories present themselves in objects and space.

Katz’s works take on various forms such as drawings, collages, textiles, prints, and installation objects. They feature figurative and abstract imagery, influenced by her daily surroundings, calligraphy, and family archives.

She links her visual references through a combination of material processes to explore the implications associated with stitching, replication, and methods that can mend or bind things from different sources. By using these techniques to weave elements together, Katz’s work situates her memories into tactile objects.
