We are excited to launch this year’s Don Wright Scholarship show!

is a series of prints that explore Canadian identity, master narratives, and cultural spectacle within a Newfoundland context. The work draws from Amery’s personal experiences as an artist from the mainland, and investigates juxtaposed symbols of an island paradise versus the reality of living on an island in the North Atlantic.

In case you missed it, our 2nd annual Steamroller Printmaking Spectacular was wildly successful! The event happened Quidi Vidi lake-side on Regatta Eve, and what a turn out! The block was carved by a collective of new-to-the-artform printmakers. We think they did a great job! To check out more pictures from the event, visit the photo album on our Facebook page (photo credits to Virginia Mitford), but in the meantime, here are a few gems to tide you over:

In celebration of this huge milestone for SMP, we commissioned 5 artists – each unique, celebrated, and with their own historical relationship with the Printshop – to create 5 original works of art. The results exceeded our expectations and then some.
